Kevin & Kay at the Netherlands Clinic 2006

Kay & I have been farmers all of our married life raising 2 children Grant & Tanya.

I am a 3rd generation farmer & have always had a keen interest in working dogs & started a

Kelpie Stud 21 years ago.

Since semi retiring we have concentrated more on the Kelpie Stud as this is what I wish to do in

my retirement.

Kay plays a big part in  caring for the pups & feeding the older dogs when I am away

from home & knows as much as I do as far as pups available are concerned.

Kay organizes all the transport arrangements for interstate as well as for export.

We are both very proud of our dogs & feel they are part of the family.

I believe that dogs are truly mans best friend & they have my greatest respect.

Our aim is to try to Improve the already great breed of dog the Working Kelpie,& make these

dogs available to those who wish to enjoy working with a quality dog.

We both enjoy traveling to trials & training clinics meeting friends & making new ones.

ABOUT TRIALING:

One reason for trialing is for the sport doing something that you enjoy doing.

I believe that trialing is a very important part of improving the quality of working dogs.

Interested people can watch & see that there are very good dogs available & they can see what

a well trained Quality dog can do.

The most important thing that a breeder must do is breed for natural working ability.

Trialing is a way of comparing your dogs with another breeders dogs to make sure that you are

breeding the best there is.          See our: Breeding section for pups available.

It is also a way of keeping your eye open for that special dog that you might like to use as a

Sire in your stud for an outcross dog which we all must do to avoid breeding to closely.

I feel it is important to compete in all different types of trials to be sure that you are breeding

a truly all round dog which most farmers are looking for.

If a dog can successfully compete in all types of trials & then come home & work in the hills &

yards & sheds as ours do, I feel they must be the type of dog everyone is looking for.

For our trial results see:   "Our Achievements"

Training Clinics:

Clinics are an important way of spreading the word of the better, easier, way of training dogs.

We get a great feeling of achievement when we see the way our students improve & the way

they can relate to their dogs. Sometimes it is something simple that can make a big difference.

We also like the social side of Clinics as well, when we get to meet lots of people of the same

interest in a wide spread area including overseas, making lots of friends.

With the computer age it is so easy to keep in touch with newly made friends.
